Zambri – On the Fringe

Zambri is fronted by sisters Cristi-Jo and Jessica, who deliver pitch-perfect, call and response “neo-soul” vocals that make the hairs on your neck stand on end when they hit the upper register. The vocals are the driving force behind the sound, although the rest of the band creates a lush and angular bed of rock n’ roll and new wave to compliment the girls (who also add the synth and key parts). Their shows are pretty energetic, with Cristi-Jo and Jessica gesticulating wildly to the packed room like manic post-punk divas, and the rest of the band playing with ferocious intensity. Fans of the Gossip, Tegan and Sara, and Siouxsie Sioux should take to Zambri immediately, and someone should probably sign them…
