All-American Rejects When the World Comes Down
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that the new AAR album is just like the band’s last efforts, but with a little added slick. The guy who produces Good Charlotte was on board for the project, and he added some strings and melodic layers to give the band a bigger sounding lack of talent. This “sound” is just track after track of frivolous lyrical yearning and futile whimpering backed by over-polished pop-punk power chords. You could probably write lyrics on par with AAR simply by lifting poetry from the myspace blogs of angst-ridden 13 and 14-year-olds. Speaking of blogs, since we’ve decided that their music really only resonates with high school freshmen, it was only fair to let one of them opine on the new disc, fresh from their little trafficked blog:
Hi my name is cindy Im 13 and this is my favorite band of emos. I cry to all their buetiful poetrees mostly the ones when he is crying singing and also singing while sad. This new cd is better because they put violens and sounds in it they didnt have last time. The time where he sings “I’m sorry I don’t care you were never there” is my favrite and is even sadder than the other part that I like. Please by this cd because they are hot also except for the fat one. -Cindy W.
Good For: The continued furtherance of Idiocracy, $300 haircuts, The Hills, farting on your stereo, Gallagher, Ashton Kutcher.
Bad For: History, mix CDs, Sam Peckinpah, the French.
